{BOUTIQUE} by [CRAP]

May 5, 2008

Here’s the contents of the shop above Fawn’s hair. (Note: The Kandinsky is not for sale in the shop yet, those hangers are just for show.)

Each piece is tagged with a {B} and [CRAP] for easy finding in your inventory, and are priced at $100L.

I registered an alt not very long ago, my first. Her name is Fawn Fotherington.

Guess what’s going on with her? HAIR!

Gimme a break, it’s my first attempt at hair - and my very first from scratch hair texture. (What a pain THAT was! Thanks to Marni though, she saved my tush!) I priced each of them at $100L, some come with two different options for bangs. (fringe, if you will!) Yes, it’s supposed to look bubbly. Yes, it’s supposed to be low-prim. Think of it as fashion-house hair, where everything is volumized and nearly every hair is perfectly in place - and perfectly messy. Always intentional.

Here’s a few pictures. The shirt in the picture will be new, at a [CRAP] branch called Boutique above Fawn’s shop in Moosh.

[17:08] M: I sent you 2 notecards about the Mooning Pants.  You ignored the first one.  I don’t want to turn into one of those bitter customers, so take responsibility and deal with the situation.  I think you knew the pants didn’t work, therefore you purposely rip off your customers.  I will let everyone at FashCon know this too.  I have little tolerance for bad business.

Had this customer bothered to pay more attention to her L$ total and her transactions, she would have found that I paid her back for those pants that “didn’t work” more than a week ago. Rather than attempting to instruct her to re-read the notecard that came along with the pants, I simply chose to refund her the money. The mooning pants are most certainly not for anyone who doesn’t know the basic ins-and-outs of Second Life, and can’t read a very simple instructional notecard.

O, hai!

So, I’m still working on that new line. It’s called Boutique by [CRAP]. It will be hosted at a place called moosh. I’ll tell you about it later.

IN THE MEANTIME, the 50% off sale is STILL going on! OMG! There’s quite a few $1L freebies there too, as well as my skins which are in a pretty cheapo pack at Cotton Candy.

Oh, and I still have these. In case, you know, you feel like you need them to show LL a thing or… two…cheeks… heh :)

Here’s some pictures from the [CRAP] Flickr group. Yeah, the 50% off sale is still going on for all clothing — because I haven’t had time to finish up the new pieces! Old Town and Cotton Candy should be the ones hosting the sale. If you can’t figure out where my shop is, search “Tenshi Vielle” in SL and check my picks or visit the origin of this blog and take a look at my previous posts.

I’m very proud of this image for a new shirt I made this evening… from idea to shirt to ad… in one evening. I work far too quickly for my own tastes sometimes, and I suppose it leaves me more prone to slight errors.

Armidi hair, Aden bangs, [CRAP] Eloh Re (Youthful) skin, [CRAP] Denim in Medium.

To get this effect: Gaussian blur as desired, smudge out any left over pixels and fill in anything that needs to be filled with both the paint tool and the clone tool. Play with the Shadow & Highlights (Image Menu), copy & dual layer the image. Make the 2nd layer (on top) full capacity sepia tone and set to multiply over the first layer. Make one last layer and with your eyedropper, pick up a color from the image’s own pallet. Take your square brushes and make a border, go to layer properties (as you did with the second layer) and set to 80% opacity.

Couple more after the cut, but not the exact same technique.

Essence Magazine dropped me this no more than mere seconds ago. Honestly, i’m tired of subjecting everyone to this childish bullshit at SCD, so I’m going to put it here. That way you guys can read it if you want to and skip it otherwise.

[12:32] Tenshi Vielle: You *do* realize that by supporting this sort of thing you’re making light of all artistic ability, correct?
[12:33] Kyrinnia Desmoulins: I’m supporting a designer’s choice to bring RL fashion to SL and it’s for charity
[12:34] Tenshi Vielle: So… you’re stealing designs… remaking them… selling them… and donating the funds to charity.
[12:34] Tenshi Vielle: You should call the charity first and ask them if they’re okay with dirty money.

[12:36] Kyrinnia Desmoulins: If you don’t like the project you don’t have to support it or participate hun
[12:37] Tenshi Vielle: I’m full aware of why I was dropped this notecard.
[12:37] Tenshi Vielle: I think it’s cute that you kids want to give me the “bird” for condemning people for copying designs
[12:37] Tenshi Vielle: but it all boils down to artistic integrity
[12:37] Tenshi Vielle: and people who copy don’t have any
[12:38] Tenshi Vielle: But as long as you credit the original designer, I suppose.
[12:39] Tenshi Vielle: You should also call the RL designers and ask them if it’s ok that you do this.

[12:39] Kyrinnia Desmoulins: We did ask that people include the notecard with the original designers name so we can cite in in the mag and we aren’t trying to give you the “bird” I dropped it on you because you are a designer and I thought you might participate, I appoligise if I was wrong
[12:40] Tenshi Vielle: Kyrinna, I’m the person that’s campaigning AGAINST this sort of thing.

Yeah, the wide-eyed innocence is really a good cover there, Kyrinnia.

A call to Designers:

In light of the controversy surrounding Cachet’s Alex, Alexa and Alexis outfits Essence has decided as a way to support designers choice to take inspiration from or replicate a rl outfit, Essence Magazine is sending out this challenge.
Women’s Spring
http://www.style.com/fashionshows/collections/S2008RTW/complete/thumb/all

Men’s Spring
http://men.style.com/fashion/collections/S2008MEN/runwayshows

Pick one outfit to duplicate in SL. You may change the outfit to reflect your own style as a designer but please keep the outfit recognizable from it’s source.

You have until May 7th 2008 to recreate your outfit. Please send the finished product in a folder to Takeshi Kiama and include the real life designers name on a notecard included in the folder. As of now all outfits will be shown in Essence Magazine but if there is a high volume of submissions a panel will decide which will be shown but a list of all designers submitting will be included.

Outfits need to be Transfer at least. Any other permissions are up to the designer.

Kyrinnia Desmoulins
Here are some examples of what we mean:–see inworld notecard
P.S. We strongly suggest that after the magazine is released the designers then sell the outfit and donate the profits to Relay For Life, but it is not mandatory.

There is absolutely no artistic integrity in this place at all, is there? I can see several people avoiding shops that participate in this sort of thing for fear of the “stigma”.

So people include a notecard with the designers name now… I guess it’s better than nothing, hm? I realize at this point I’m being baited. It’s really pathetic to see such things going on.
